Scammer!!! As Court sentences Estate Agent to 15 months imprisonment Over 8.3 million Fraud

An FCT High Court on Thursday sentenced a 58-year-old Estate Agent, Omole Agboworin, to 15 months imprisonment for breach of contract and diversion of N8.3 million belonging to Federal Ministry of Education
estate agent jailed for 8.3 million fraud

Justice Abubakar Umar gave the sentence without option of fine.

The judge said in a criminal trial, the sole issue for determination was whether the prosecution proved a case against an accused beyond reasonable doubt.

Umar said the prosecution in this case had proved all the charges against the convict.

He said that the accused, through his confessional statement before the EFCC admitted that he was given the money to rent apartment for the Permanent Secretary of the ministry.

“The confessional statement indicated that the convict converted the money to his personal use,’’ he said.

Umar held that the convict breached the contract because he did not inform the Ministry about his intention to divert the money for his personal use.

“I am satisfied with the submission of the prosecution and it is on record that the convict had earlier jump bail during the trail and a bench warrant was issued against him.

“ He also failed to attend his trial three consecutive times. This lackadaisical attitude is uncalled for” he said

The judge convicted Agboworin based on the provisions of section 309 of the Penal Code which prescribed a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment. (NAN)

Dangote Added $9.2 billion to His Networth in 2013, While Gates Lead The Line

Aliko-dangote

The man who is the most generous giver on earth, Bill Gates is also the richest individual, according to a Bloomberg report today.

Gates net worth ballooned by $15.8 billion to $78.5 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires index, as shares of Microsoft, the world’s largest software maker, rose 40 percent in 2013.
Bloomberg says that the 58 year-old software tycoon recaptured the title of world’s richest person on May 16 from Mexican investor Carlos Slim.

Gates’s fortune has also benefited from a rally in stock holdings that include the Canadian National Railway Co. and sanitizing-products maker Ecolab Inc., which rose 34 percent and 45 percent respectively.
Gate’s increasing wealth is typical of the experience of the world’s richest in 2013. Bloomberg says the world’s richest even got richer, in a trend that will further sadden the world’s poorest as the rich take everything away.

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest person and founder of Dangote Group, one of the continent’s largest conglomerates, added $9.2 billion during the year. He’s the 30th-richest person in the world. His fortune is now well over $30billion.
Bloomberg’s billionaire’s index showed that the 300 richest people in the world increased their deep pockets with $524 billion.

“The aggregate net worth of the world’s top billionaires stood at $3.7 trillion at the market close on Dec. 31, according to the ranking. The biggest gains came in the technology industry, which soared 28 percent during the year. Of the 300 people who appeared on the final ranking of 2013, only 70 registered a net loss for the 12-month period.

“The rich will keep getting richer in 2014,” John Catsimatidis, the billionaire founder of real estate and energy conglomerate Red Apple Group Inc., said in a telephone interview from his New York office. “Interest rates will remain low, equity markets will keep rising, and the economy will grow at less than 2 percent.”

Most of Gates’s assets are held in Cascade Investment LLC, an entity through which he owns stakes in about three dozen publicly traded companies and several closely held businesses, including Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Corbis Corp., a photo-archive company. Less than a quarter of Gates’s fortune is held in Microsoft. He’s donated $28 billion to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Global stocks soared in 2013 for the best annual gain since 2009, with the MSCI World Index advancing 24 percent during the year to close at 1,661.07 on Dec. 31. The Standard and Poor’s 500 Index rose 30 percent to close at 1,848.36, its best yearly gain since 1997. The Stoxx Europe 600 gained 17 percent to close at 328.26.

Companies in the S&P 500 are worth $3.7 trillion more today than they were 12 months ago following a year when Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke signaled the curtailment of economic stimulus. The bull market, born at the depths of the credit crisis, enters its sixth year fueled by near-zero interest rates and conviction among investors that it’s finally safe to own equities again.

Prison Break Actor Wentworth Miller Confirmed to be A gay

Wentworth- Miller- Confirmed- to -be -A -gay

The popular actor in the film titled "Prison Break" was lately confirmed to be a gay.
The 41-year-old actor wrote:

Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline.

I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.

Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I'll be free to make a different choice.
Until then. Wentworth Miller

Check out the Mirror that Makes you Look Slimmer Than You are

According to UK Daily Mail, a mirror was discovered recently, which was told to be making people look slimmer than they look. it was confirmed that entrepreneur Belinda Jasmine invented the mirror that makes people look almost a stone slimmer than they actually are, and  the intention of doing this is to motivate them and which eventually could be their best friend.
Graphic designer Belinda claims her invention, which is priced at around £116, is a safe alternative to cosmetic surgery and cosmetics - and says her motto is 'you only look as good as you feel'.

Spainish Train Crash Update:Black boxes Found As Drivers Were arrested

Culled from NY Times
A veteran train driver with a zest for speed was arrested in his hospital room in northwest Spain where investigators are trying to determine whether reckless behavior caused a train wreck that left dozens of passengers dead, the authorities said Friday.
The driver, Francisco José Garzón Amo, 52, is the focus of a criminal investigation, according to Jaime Iglesias, the national police commander from Galicia, who said at a news conference that investigators were waiting for his condition to improve to start questioning him about Wednesday’s crash. A judicial inquiry could also take place in the hospital where he is recovering, the police commander added.

Photographs of the driver, his face bloodied, appeared prominently in Spanish newspapers along with screen grabs of the driver’s now deleted Facebook page, on which he bragged last year about topping speeds of 200 kilometers, or 124 miles, per hour.

But Julio Gómez-Pomar, the president of Renfe, Spain’s rail network, on Friday described the driver as a seasoned employee who had passed through the curved wall where the crash took place some 60 times without incident and had exhaustive knowledge of the line.
The black boxes, recovered from the wreckage of the train, the Alvia 151, could help explain why it roared off the track on a bend as it was approaching Santiago de Compostela at twice the speed limit.

With new identifications of bodies, the death toll from the train wreck was revised down to 78. Most of the victims were from Spain, along with some passengers from Algeria, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and the United States.
In silence and tears, relatives of victims gathered by the broken track and the gray concrete bend marked with scallop shells, the symbols of the ancient way of the apostle St. James. The shell is a badge of honor for pilgrims who complete the journey along the ancient Camino de Santiago de Compostela.

Ana Maria Cordoba, an administrative employee with the Arlington Diocese in Virginia, was riding the train with her husband and daughter to visit her son, who had just completed the camino. Her husband and daughter survived, but Mrs. Cordoba did not. Victor de Sola and his wife, Maria, both 92, were also among the victims. They visited Santiago de Compostela every year for the feast day of St. James on July 25.

“My brother died doing what he loved the most, and that is something that gives me some relief,” said Tomás de Sola. The couple were buried Thursday.

By early Friday, at least six bodies had not yet been identified. The Red Cross organized an information center for families at the Cersia Building in Santiago. Some relatives fumed openly about the wait for answers and permission to take the remains of victims.

“My brother is there in a coffin, and I want to take him home,” said a young woman with a red blanket around her shoulders who would give her name only as Deborah. “But the organization is telling us that we have to talk to a psychologist, and we are very frustrated.”

Genma Rodrigues, her eyes red, stood near the exit of the Cersia Building. She was still waiting for news about two friends, Eva Pérez, 24, and Celtia Cabido, 22, who did not arrive for a huge reunion of friends from around Europe. “It’s too terrible,” Ms. Rodrigues said. “I can’t bear it right now.”

Another missing passenger was Rosalina Ynoa, a native of the Dominican Republic and a mother of four sons who was visiting Santiago for work.

“She was a public servant in the Dominican government and traveled to Galicia to organize an official meeting in a few months,” said Frank Bencosme, the Dominican consul. “She had a sister in Coruña and planned to visit her. But she didn’t make it.”

The city of Santiago is in mourning, with a concert stage at Plaza Quintana draped in black.

As the Alvia trains returned to Santiago station, some of the passengers said they tried to quell their fears.

“My little granddaughter did not want to get on the train,” said Ana Cristina Jiménez, 73, a Santiago resident arriving from Madrid who added that she had calmed the child with a pill. “The train was driving so slowly that we knew they were doing it on purpose.”

Silvia Taulés reported from Santiago de Compostela, and Doreen Carvajal from Paris. Stephen Castle contributed reporting from London, and Caroline Brothers from Paris.

VINEGAR, The Advantages aspect you Never Know

Do you ever thought Vinegar could be as useful as am about to let you know? people hardly believe it. But below are the various uses and advantages of vinegar....

•Disinfectant: A natural antibacterial, vinegar makes a great base for any nontoxic cleaning solution. For an all-purpose disinfecting solution, dilute one part vinegar in four parts water and use anywhere germs are found, such as countertops, keyboards, shared phones, doorknobs and remote controls.

•Toilet bowl cleaner: Clean, disinfect and deodorise your toilet by pouring one cup of vinegar around the inside of the bowl. Let sit for an hour, use a brush to remove rings, then flush.

•Drain cleaner: To keep drains clog-free, pour half cup of baking soda down the drain, then follow with half cup of vinegar. Wait for foaming to subside, then follow with a gallon of boiling water. If necessary, remove hair and other debris with a wire. Repeat if drain is still slow.

•Residue remover: Clean the glue residue that labels and stickers leave behind by wiping the sticky surface with a rag dipped in a vinegar-water solution.

•Hair rinse: Remove build-up by diluting two tablespoons vinegar and two tablespoons lemon juice in three cups water and mixing well. After shampooing, pour rinse over hair before rinsing with water. The vinegar will close the cuticle and leave hair soft and shiny. An added bonus: It keeps dandruff at bay.

•Stain remover: Purge grass stains and blood spots by whipping up your own natural stain remover. Mix half cup white vinegar, a quarter cup baking soda and three cups water in a spray bottle. Just spray on the stain and toss clothing into the laundry!

•Wart killer: To remove unsightly warts, dip a cotton ball in vinegar, place over wart and secure with a bandage. Change the cotton ball daily. The acid in vinegar will eat away at the wart over time. (Be sure to keep the skin around the wart moisturised.)

•Breath freshener: Eliminate bad breath by rinsing with two tablespoons vinegar and one tablespoon salt diluted in one cup water. This rinse is especially effective at removing onion and garlic odours.

20 -year Matthew Booth, Who starved Himself For 6 years

Many things we might have said and seen that you believe could not be done. i guess you've seen a man who fasted for 40 days and night in the bible...lol, but matthew Booth's case is different and i believed you'll really like to read his story. Enjoy

A man who developed anorexia and shrank to just 4st 5lbs has told how dying for 20 minutes helped shock him into recovery.

Matthew Booth, 20, began starving himself when he was 14-years-old.

At his worst, he stopped eating and drinking completely and at 18 was rushed to hospital, where his heart stopped and doctors battled for 20 minutes to bring him back to life.Incredibly, he has now made a full recovery and is hoping to become a personal trainer.

The student, from Bury, Manchester, said his problems began when he was relentlessly beaten by a gang of school bullies every day for over a year because he was 'different'.

He was so desperate to stop the beatings that he started compulsively exercising and lifting weights to bulk up, throwing his lunch away in an attempt to change his appearance and 'fit in' at school. But eventually, unable to stop the bullies, he dropped out of school.

He said: 'I thought I was picked on for the way I looked so I wanted to change that. I had long hair, was into heavy metal music and a drummer in the school band so I wasn't in with the popular kids.

'I started lifting weights to try and get bigger to defend myself against the bullies, but I also began skipping meals, thinking this would help me bulk up.

'But the weight started falling off me, and it felt good to have something in my life I could actually control. Fed up of with the abuse I dropped out of school.'
Alone at home, while his mother Brenda, 61, worked full time as a civil servant, Matthew skipped breakfast and lunch, exercising up to eight hours a day.

Eventually, after he'd stopped eating altogether and had shrunk to 7st, his worried mother Brenda took her son to the doctor. He was diagnosed with anorexia and hospitalised two months later weighing just 5st 8lbs.

Matthew said: 'By the time I was admitted I couldn't walk and had to be taken in in a wheelchair.

'I refused to eat at first, but after a year of intensive therapy at three different eating disorder clinics, I really missed home and started to eat.

'My weight increased to 9st 4lbs and the doctors allowed me to go home.

'But as soon as I got home I went back to my old eating habits and excessive exercise.

'I was desperate to lose the weight again. I knew the only way I would be able to stay home was to trick people into thinking I was better. 'I had to attend weigh-ins every two weeks to monitor my recovery, but I would drink two litres of water just before my appointment so I appeared to have gained. The doctors couldn't tell what I was doing.

'Whenever I saw my mum in the evenings I would tell her what I'd eaten for breakfast and lunch. She worked full time, so it was easy to lie to her.

'I didn't even feel bad, I wasn't thinking straight. It was like someone else was living in my head.'

Despite the pain, the unrelenting cold and the constant feeling of exhaustion, Matthew could not break free from his obsession and he continued to restrict his body of food.

At this time Matthew had also began purging his food and abusing laxatives, taking up to 40 a day.
He spent the whole of Christmas day 2010 on his exercise bike, unable to relax at the thought of gaining just one pound.
His body was shutting down and his mind had reached extreme levels of obsession. His anorexia sparked an all-consuming OCD, leading him to spend up to 16-hours a day walking in circles around his living room, unable to sit down.

At his worst, Matthew stopped drinking for three weeks, refusing to brush his teeth or even wash his face in fear that just a drop of water would see him gain weight. His lips were constantly bleeding from the dehydration.

Matthew said: 'By January 2011 nothing was allowed to pass through my mouth. I would wake up at 4am every morning and pace my bedroom in a zombie state until 10 o'clock at night.

'It was like I was on autopilot and unable to stop. I was struggling to stand but determined to exercise no matter how much pain my body was in.

'I was dreaming about food, it was clear my body was calling out for me to eat and drink, but I denied it.It was so bad that I became delusional, my mind was telling me I had drank some water when I hadn't and I was going mad with paranoia.
I would shout at my mum to tell me if I had eaten a slice of toast on her plate. I was convinced I had.

'By the end I couldn't swallow, my lips were cracked and were constantly bleeding. My face was practically rotting.'

At this point Matthew wouldn't even go into the kitchen out of fear that food or drink would somehow enter his body.

In February 2011, when he was 18, Matthew was sectioned by his doctor and rushed to Fairfield Hospital in Bury.

Two days later he suffered heart failure and died for 20 minutes.

Doctors were able to revive him, but told him he would die again if he didn't start eating.

Matthew said: 'I remember waking up and the doctor looking at me saying 'you just died,' I couldn't believe it. I burst into tears. They said if they hadn't had taken me in when they did I'd be dead. It was the wake up call I needed to start recovering.

'When my mum turned up and told me they had rang her after 10 minutes of trying to revive me telling her I might not live, I felt so guilty for putting her through it all.
'I asked her to pass me a mirror so I could look at my face. When I saw my reflection I didn't recognise the person staring back at me.

'I looked like an 80-year-old man, not an 18-year-old boy. I was being tube fed and had to go to the toilet through a tube. It was humiliating.'

Matthew's body was so damaged that doctors had to check his blood every two hours to monitor his glucose levels. The starvation had caused liver, kidney and heart failure.
Matthew says his near death experience made him realise how much he really wanted to live

Matthew says his near death experience made him realise how much he really wanted to live

Matthew fell unconscious two days later after suffering from re-feeding syndrome. He spent four weeks in hospital being fed through tubes and was later referred to Cheadle Adult Eating Disorder clinic for further treatment and physiotherapy to help him walk again.

Matthew, who now lives in Lowestoft, Suffolk with girlfriend, Tammy Earrye, 18 said: 'Gradually my body started to recover and I was determined never to go back to hospital again.

'I became more positive and began to eat, increasing my calorie intake every day.

'A year after I was discharged I met Tammy online. At first I was scared to tell her what had happened to me, but once I opened up to her she was so understanding and caring. I could tell her anything.

'She was my first girlfriend and she made me feel like I wasn't a freak and that she liked me for who I was.

'Whenever I feel insecure about my body she tells me she loves me the way I am and that I should be confident about the way I look. I still get horrible thoughts, but she's there to support me on my down days.'

Matthew is now training to become a fitness trainer.

He added: 'My near death experience made me realise how much I really wanted to live. It changed my outlook on life and I was determined to recover.

'Knowing I might not have lived still upsets me today. I feel guilty for putting my mum through the worry of losing a child.

'Coming back from the dead made me want to live. I was given a second chance at life and wasn't going to waste it.'

What You Need To Do When Your Spouse Snores

Have you ever shared the same room with someone who snores? Those who have will readily confess that it’s an unpleasant experience. Snoring can be a bore to the person sharing the bed or room with the snorer because while the latter seems to sleep soundly, the ‘room mate’ likely tosses about, waiting for the first light of dawn.

Men snore more than men, researchers say. And it could be a distraught experience for a woman, especially after a bout of … ahem, when the man drifts into a sound sleep, while the woman remains awake with his limp arm still wrapped around her in an unconscious state of being!

However, researchers counsel that if your partner snores, instead of getting mad at the irritating condition, get help very quickly, because snoring is a risky medical condition that happens when air flows past relaxed tissues in your throat, causing the tissues to vibrate as you breathe, creating the irritating sounds.

They warn that the situation is dangerous because when you snore, your breathing becomes shallow or even stops for a while during the night, which can lead to death if you don’t wake up within five minutes of breath cessation.
Scientists note that up to 80 per cent of men snore at some time, double the number of women, while about 40 per cent of men snore every night. This is mainly because men have narrower air passages than women, they note.

Sleep disorder specialist, Dr. Debo Sanusi, notes that snoring is caused by a combination of factors, including body position and alcohol. “When you snore, you can’t move air freely through your nose and mouth during sleep,” he warns.

Another specialist in the disorder, Dr. Andrew Veale, of the New Zealand Respiratory and Sleep Institute, says it could also be as result of certain genes passed down the family tree.

“The most important thing is the inherited shape of your face and neck. So, if dad is a snorer and you resemble him, you’re in deep strife,” Veale warns. He says further that this is because a narrow throat, a cleft palate, enlarged adenoids, and other physical attributes that contribute to snoring are often hereditary.

Sanusi notes that alcohol is a muscle relaxer that eases the tension in the muscles of the airway, inevitably leading to snoring. He says as an individual increases his alcohol consumption, the tissues in his throat become much more ‘floppy,’ making it inevitable for him to snore as he sleeps.

Otolaryngologists say people who snore may have developed obstructive sleep apnea (a breathing obstruction, causing the sleeper to keep waking up to begin breathing again), which increases the risk of developing heart disease.

Researchers at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, USA, also warns that in addition to heart disease, snorers stand the risk of developing stroke!

Worse still, physicians warn, snoring can make the snorer susceptible to death by cancer. A study presented at the American Thoracic Society conference concludes that people with severe sleep apnea are almost five times as likely to die of cancer as those who breathe easy while they sleep.

The lead researcher, Dr. Javier Nieto, of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, says his team tracked 1,500 people for 22 years, and found that apnea reduces the oxygen level in the blood. “When the body senses this, to avoid suffocating, tumours grow new blood vessels. These extra veins and arteries help existing tumours grow faster and give cancer cells more opportunities to spread through the bloodstream to new parts of the body,” Nieto explains.

Apart from alcohol and gene, other things that are responsible for snoring include age. Experts warn that as you reach middle age and beyond, your throat becomes narrower, and the muscle tone in your throat decreases, leading to the possibility of becoming a snorer.
Physicians also say if you have nasal and sinus problems, the blocked airways make inhalation difficult and create a vacuum in the throat, leading to snoring.

And if you are overweight, it’s bad news all the way, as the fatty tissue and poor muscle tone contribute to snoring.

Doctors also say that smoking and certain medications can increase muscle relaxation, leading to more snoring. And if you are the type that sleeps flat on your back, this habit will cause the flesh of your throat to relax and block the airway, resulting inevitably in snoring.

While the Nieto team says more research is needed to confirm their suspicion that snoring may cause cancer, they agree that snoring is cause for concern, as it could lead to accidents, depression, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

They counsel, “If you snore and are sleepy during the day, check with your doctor, especially if you’re overweight — a situation that increases sleep apnea risk.

At 12:56pm on Wednesday, an update on the official page of the PDP, which has 10,416 fans, stated that the party was launching a promo for the search for the most patriotic Nigerian, dating back to the period the country attained independence in 1960. It explained that the party’s Facebook fan with the highest endorsement for his or her recommendation would be adequately compensated.

According to PDP, the winner will have the opportunity of having dinner with a sitting PDP governor or a member of the Federal Executive Council. It also added that the promo cum search would end by mid-May.

In fact, the PDP designed a banner and uploaded it on its page to show that it was serious with the initiative.

The Facebook post stated, “ Promo! Promo!! Promo!!! The Peoples Democratic Party is asking you to help search for the most patriotic Nigerian, whose selflessness inspired many Nigerians since independence and why?

“The person with the highest number of “likes” on his/her comment will have dinner with a PDP governor or minister of their choice. The promo ends 6:00pm on Saturday, May 15, 2013.”

No sooner had the party posted the message than comments from fans started pouring in. Names such as Obafemi Awolowo, the late Premier of the old Western Region; Ahmadu Bello, late premier of the old Northern region; Late human rights activist, Gani Fawehinmi, late President Umaru Yar’Adua came up.

Others included former Heads-of-State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Gen. Muhammodu Buhari, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar; former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Prof. Wole Soyinka; and a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

However, some commenters nominated President Goodluck Jonathan. One of such Nigerians is Prince Ajijala Adeolu-Kenfills, who argues, ironically, that granting pardon to former Governor of Bayelsa State and self acclaimed Governor-General of the Ijaw nation, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, is enough reason for him (the President) to bag PDP’s ‘Most Patriotic Nigerian’ award.

Adeolu-Kenfills stated, “(He is) GoodluckJonathan, because he has done many good things to improve the lives of our people. He also freed Nigeria from corruption by granting his corrupt master (Alamieyeseigha) amnesty. He is the best President from the back, right from independence. He even deserves another term.”

A good number of fans of the PDP on the social network queried the party for introducing the search and promo, arguing that the initiative will have no meaningful impact on the teeming unemployed youths in the country.

New details surface From the Death of Osama Bin Laden

Culled from Yahoo News
There were “the Shooter” and “the Point Man.” Now a third member of SEAL Team 6 offers another account of the raid on Osama bin Laden that led to his death in 2011.
The report from CNN appears to contradict Esquire’s widely circulated story, "The Man Who Killed Osama bin Laden," by Phil Bronstein. The unnamed source from CNN calls the Esquire account "complete B-S."

The SEAL team member in the Esquire profile, who was described simply as the Shooter, claimed that he entered the compound and found bin Laden with a gun in reach and shot him.
“In that second, I shot him, two times in the forehead. Bap! Bap! The second time as he’s going down. He crumpled onto the floor in front of his bed. He was dead. I watched him take his last breaths,” the Shooter told Esquire.

That account conflicts with the first-person narrative from the bestselling book “No Easy Day,” written by Matt Bissonette under the alias Mark Owen.
According to a third account from the anonymous Navy SEAL Team 6 member who talked to CNN, the Point Man rushed up the stairs and shot bin Laden in the head, gravely wounding him.
CNN adds, “Having taken down bin Laden, the point man proceeded to rush two women he found in bin Laden's bedroom, gathering them in his arms to absorb the explosion in case they were wearing suicide vests, something that was a real concern of those who planned the raid.”

Two more SEALs then found bin Laden wounded on the floor, and shot him in the chest. CNN’s source said there was no way the Shooter could have seen a gun in reach of bin Laden -- since a gun was only discovered in the the suspected terrorist leader's room after a thorough search.
This account appears to square with the one in “No Easy Day,” which asserts the Point Man took the first shots. Bissonette writes in his book that he was one of the members to shoot bin Laden as he lay on the floor.

Bronstein, when contacted by CNN, said he had passed along the questions around the raid to his source but had not heard back.

But according to CNN’s Peter Bergen, there’s no “I” in this SEAL team: He writes that in the briefing to President Obama post-raid, the members explained, "If you took one person out of the puzzle, we wouldn't have the competence to do the job we did; everybody's vital. It's not about the guy who pulled the trigger to kill bin Laden, it's about what we all did together."

'Africa's tallest building' set for $10 billion technology city

'Africa's tallest building' set for $10 billion technology city
Right now, it's nothing more than an empty plot of land, covered by just a few shrubs and the odd Neem tree. But within a few years, these grass plains just outside Accra, Ghana, could be transformed into a fertile breeding ground for world-class innovation.
Earlier this month, Ghanaian president John Mahama launched Hope City, a $10 billion high-tech hub aiming to foster technological growth and attract major players in the global ICT industry to the West African country.
The ambitious project is the brainchild of Ghanaian businessman Roland Agambire, head of local technology group RLG Communications. Smart and futuristic, the hub's sustainable facilities will include an assembly plant for various tech products, business offices, an IT university and a hospital, as well as housing and recreation spaces, including restaurants, theaters and sports centers.
"What is lacking in the African continent is a place where you can have well-designed products, backed with concrete research and proper hardware and software developers to be able to create infrastructure for the telecoms industry," says Agambire, 39, whose company has acquired the land where the technopolis will be built.
"So the inspiration behind Hope City is to have an iconic ICT park where ICT players from all over the world can converge to design, fabricate and export software and everything arising from this country," he adds.
Construction is expected to begin by June 2013 and when completed -- within three years, if everything goes as planned -- the technology park could house 25,000 residents and create jobs for 50,000 people.
Agambire, one of Ghana's top businessmen, says his company is financing 30% of the project, while the remainder will be funded by a wide array of investors and through a stock-buying scheme.
The entrepreneur says the IT hub has already attracted several partners, including Microsoft, with Microsoft corporate vice president Ali Faramawy among the guests at the Hope City launch event.
Agambire adds that the Hope City project also has the support of the Ghanaian government, as it aims to create create thousands of jobs and help turn technology into one of the country's main economic drivers.
"What we want to do is to create the environment and the human resource base for the technology industry to be able to use that [environment] and tap that opportunity," he says. "That's what has happened in China, that's what has happened in other places of the world."
Hope City will be developed in an area of about 1.5 million square meters, located some 30 minutes west of Accra's city center.
Designed by Italian firm Architect OBR, the technopolis will be made up of six towers of different dimensions, including a 75-story, 270 meter-high building that is expected to be the highest in Africa. A system of bridges at different heights will link the towers together, creating a circular connection between the buildings' functions and public amenities.
OBR co-founder Paolo Brescia says the project's goal is to create a living place of discovery and exploration that reflects the tradition and culture of local people in a contemporary urban setting.
To achieve this, the architects designed Hope City with Ghana's traditional compound houses in mind. Originally made of mud brick walls and thatched roofs, compound structures have been a prevalent form of housing in the country for centuries, built to promote communal life and mutual assistance.
"We wanted to recreate, at a different scale, the same feeling of the compound house in a way that it could work as a compound cluster," explains Brescia.
"This place is designed to keep people together," he adds. "We developed this idea, not as a campus, where you have buildings which are dedicated to single functions, but as a city which is developed in a vertical way so that everything could be interconnected."
The launch of Hope City comes just a few months after Kenya broke ground on its own flagship tech mega project; located some 60 kilometers southeast of the capital Nairobi, Konza Techno City is being touted as "Africa's Silicon Savannah," a major IT hub that aims to create some 100,000 jobs by 2030.
This city hopefully will bring the tech companies together and spark a new ICT revolution in Ghana.
Florence Toffa, Mobile Web Ghana
Kenya has already experienced a major IT boom in recent years, spurred in part by a surge in the number of innovation centers, such as Nairobi-based iHub, which enable young coders and aspiring entrepreneurs to collaborate, network and develop their trailblazing ideas.

Similar spaces have also mushroomed across Africa in recent years, from Egypt and Nigeria to Tanzania and Madagascar.
In Ghana, one such center is Accra-based Mobile Web Ghana, a vibrant tech space with more than 300 members. Florence Toffa, director of Mobile Web Ghana, welcomes the launch of Hope City.
"This city hopefully will bring the tech companies together and spark a new ICT revolution in Ghana," she says, adding that the project could equip local techies with the necessary skills to develop apps that would solve community problems, as well as provide a platform for tech companies to find new talent and opportunities to invest in.
For Agambire, this is a project that will position Ghana at the forefront of African technology.
"Africa is hungry for development," he says. "Want to make sure that in three years down the line, Hope City will be a reality and will be one of the biggest dreams that Africa has ever seen."

There is a striking resemblance between the actor who plays Satan in History Channel's hit mini-series, The Bible, and the president of the United States of America, Barack Obama. Can you guys see the resemblance? Coincidence or deliberate? The actor's name is Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni.

The resemblance was pointed out on Twitter by people who watched the series this past Sunday and it is causing a lot of controversy in the US. History Channel has responded to the controversy:

"History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History’s The Bible is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.”
